About Make-A-Wish

As of right now, Make-A-Wish is able to grant a wish every 34 minutes. They believe that the wish experience can change a child’s life. The wish process started with Chris Greicius, a young boy with Leukemia in 1980. He wished to be a police officer. Tommy Austin, a friend of the Greicius family, told Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Officer, Ron Cox about his Chris' wish. At the time Cox had no idea how much that little boy would change his life. He did everything he could to make that boy's wish special.

A few weeks later Chris passed away, but the spirit of the wish stayed alive. Two of the officers that were part of Chris’s wish flew back to go to his funeral. Chris was given a ceremony of a fellow fallen officer. It is there they realized what an impact the wish made. On the way home, they decided they wanted to still be able to grant wishes to other children in similar situations, like Chris. When they arrived back home, a group of people from the DPS decided to start an organization to grant wishes to children. A few months later they were able to grant their first wish to Frank “Bopsy” Salazar.
